Finding that email notifications weren't quite enough I've put together a watch app that can browse the last few emails receive and read their contents.
It relies on an android app that can also generate notifications.
In the play store <here>
The watchapp installs from the android app.
NOTE:
You need to install your mail client, K9 or Kaiten, before installing this app, otherwise it can't get the permissions.
<UPDATE version1.09>
Some speed and stability improvements. I still can't seem to fix a problem with the service starting on install. It seems to take a few minutes before the service will respond to messages from the watch.
Added settings for larger/smaller fonts.
<UPDATE version 1.08>
Added support for Kaiten mail, both ad supported and paid version. Select your mail client in the settings.
Added option to not send the mail body in the notification, speeds up the notification a bit.
No actual change to the watchapp but raised the version number to keep them in sync.
<version 1.07 - not released>
<android version 106, watch version 1.05>
Minor tweak to report the failure to get access to K9 mail better. If this happens please reinstall the android app.
I've no idea why the android occasionally fails to get permission to read emails, but so far reinstalling solves the problem.
<version 1.05 >
Added ability to delete emails from the watch, also some more options on the inbox size and filtering.
And I think I've finally figured out why blanks spots appear in the inbox, should correct itself now
For those looking for images, here are a few to whet the appetite.

The launch screen, it will sit here for a few seconds... any more than 10 then something has gone wrong that I can't detect, probably best to restart.

The inbox screen, 'Unread' emails are marked, the first line is the sender, the second is the subject.
Up/down to navigate, centre to select which will take you to:

Initially the body will appear with 'Please wait' but it should load in a few seconds, then you can scroll up and down to read the content.
