Can't get any new watch faces

Hi everyone
I got my Pebble yesterday and I have to say my start was a struggle.  First I got that "update firmware" loop that other people have struggled with.  Thanks to the forum I finally managed to get my Pebble to actually have something other than this error message on it.  I have it up and running on firmware version 1.9, if I try to update it, I get back into the "update firmware" loop.

I have having trouble getting other faces.  I have tried downloading some other faces from the Pebble barn, eventually gave up with that.  I can't even add stock one from the app, the only ones that will run are the ones that came on the watch.
The second issue I am having is that my time keeps on going out - it won't stay synced with my phones time.

I am running a Sony Xperia Z - can anyone help?
