What if my top priority is battery duration? Ok, I already disabled auto-light and so...what else we can do?
Pebble has an LCD screen, that needs a very low power to show the image, but it needs 10x more energy when the screen is updated.
Ok, then... lets update the screen less often! Make sense? Yes!
Moreover, lets create a "night mode", from 23h to 7am, and update even less often (I would disable bluetooth during this period, but SDK doesnt have de API, yet)
SO here comes the LongLife Watchapp. It implements 3 strategies:
- Timer to update the screen is setup to 1min (not every second)
- Minutes hand are updated every two minutes (+0 to +2)
- At night, from 23:00 to 7:00, its every 4 minutes (-1 to +3)
Just try it, and let me know if you notice more battery duration.
Next version will implement:
- Bitmap painting (to avoid line redrawing when painting the watchface)
- Bluetooth disabling during nights (if the guys of pebble give the API to disable and reenable it)
